Day 1 - The Awakening

3:10 AM  my alarm goes off. Good start to the travel day ahead of us. By 3:45 most of us were ready to board the shuttle to Toronto Pearson airport. The first group to board the shuttle was Mikey, Les, Anthony and I. As soon as we got into the terminal a brash grumpy old American lady was already trying to command us around, Ignoring her, we waited for the rest of the group which had Chris, Holly, Jan, Michelle and Darrian in it. Going through customs was fairly unorganized, and we arrived out our gate half an hour before takeoff.  Around 6:30 we took off to our first destination in Miami.

After landing about at 9:30, everyone had the same thought - food. As soon as we landed we went on the hunt for restaurants.  Once we found one where we could seat our 10 person party, we settled in and ate quite the amount of food. After our stomachs were filled we had a good hour and a half of down time before our next flight.  At 12:00, we boarded a plane for the last time that day.

When we landed around 2:30, we arrived at the chillest looking airport. Everything was relaxed and (in my opinion ) more organized then American Airlines.  The heat and humidity was intense it almost knocked my socks off. It got better once we got into the van. From then on we started our trip towards the St Ignatia and Cahel Pech Resort. Traveling inland we got a glimpse of the culture and how much the landscape changes.

The land turned from grassland to lush jungle in about an hours drive. "The topography was outstanding"(Les Frayne 2013). The resort we are staying is huge. The food at the restaurant was filling and delicious. Mikey and I cleaned up most of the leftovers so we felt accomplished, like how many times will you ever eat chicken and rice in a pineapple.
